CUHK-Shenzhen Launches First University-Based Red Cross Organization in Shenzhen
The Red Cross Society of CUHK-Shenzhen, the first university-based Red Cross organization in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, officially established on 18 November 2020. The ceremony also announced the launching of the student volunteer group of CUHK-Shenzhen and the Red Cross Youth Leadership Program.
Born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, the Red Cross endeavors to mobilize and organize the youth to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. This concept corresponds to the essence of the University’s motto.

During the ceremony, twenty choristers from the CUHK-Shenzhen Choir performed their repertoire.

Professor Tom Luo, Vice President of CUHK-Shenzhen, addressed the audience representing the University.
“We started the preparation for the School of Medicine of CUHK-Shenzhen from the year of 2018. We aim to train high-qualified medical professionals and build up a world-ranking medical school to accelerate the development of the medical service and pass the spirit of the red cross—humanity, fraternity, and dedication—in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.”
At the meantime, CUHK-Shenzhen will set up the remains and organ donating station and a student volunteer group.

The initiation of the Red Cross Youth Leadership Program
Following the ceremony was the first training session of the cultivation project. Themed on the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross and the youth action, the session was delivered by Ren Yi, Chairman of the Red Cross Youth Network of East Asia.
